MFD Homestead Renovation
The Mystic Fire District decided in 2006 to renovate the abandoned and dilapidated "Homestead" building, located on Cottrell Street in the downtown village of Mystic. Built in 1827 by Joseph Cottrell, this structure, which overlooks the Mystic River and Mystic River Park and drawbridge, was a sea captain's family homestead and later converted into numerous apartments. Along the way, the home fell into disrepair and sat vacant and deteriorating for nearly 20 years. Coastal Construction Management, LLC was contracted to restore this historic post and beam home into three luxury living units. The building has been painstakingly restored to its original beauty and prominence on the exterior and upgraded to include the latest in luxury and convenience on the interior. The project was completed in June 2007.
