Coastal Construction Management - Michael A. Scarpa

Coastal Construction Management LLC

Michael A. Scarpa

Michael Scarpa began his career in the building trades as a trim carpenter and remodeler, where he learned invaluable skills in detail work.  In 1983, he started his own building and remodeling company.  His first large-scale remodeling job, which took almost two years to complete, was the Rhode Island oceanfront mansion of a well-known New York City designer.

In 1997, Mark Wolman, owner of Wolman Construction and Waterford Hotel Group, asked Michael to join the management team at Wolman Construction, a respected luxury homebuilding firm.  There, Michael headed the Residential Construction Division, where he oversaw all residential new construction and large-scale residential renovations.  While at Wolman, he also managed a hotel renovation and the new construction of a private school.

Says Mark Wolman, president of Wolman Construction, "Mike's industry knowledge and commitment to the client is matched by his warm and upbeat personality.  Throughout the life of a project, he remains focused on delivering quality work and exceeding customer expectations."

In October 2003, Michael founded Coastal Construction Management, LLC.  The company has completed many exciting projects, including the renovation of an historic 6,000 sq ft Captain's home on the Mystic River and several exquisite custom homes along the Connecticut and Rhode Island shorelines.  Coastal has constructed and sold high-end speculation projects in Stonington; one of these splendid homes was an HBA Showcase Home with proceeds benefiting the L&M Hospital's NICU; both won a Connecticut HBA's distinguished HOBI award.

Michael and Coastal Construction Management, LLC won Home Building Industry ("HOBI") Awards from the HBA of Connecticut in 2005 and 2007, again in 2011 for Best Custom Home 3,000 to 4,000 sq ft, and most recently in 2012 for Best Vacation Home Remodel.

Michael is a past Vice President of the Builder's Association of Eastern Connecticut, Inc., where he was recognized as Builder of the Year in 2004, 2005, and again in 2015.  He earned this designation, the highest honor the Association awards each year, for his quality of workmanship and his contributions to the Association and the industry.  Michael served on the board of directors of the State Home Builders Association of Connecticut.  He contributed many volunteer hours handling the scheduling and subcontractor supervision of a past BAEC House of the Year, which involved the reconstruction of a family's home lost to fire.

Michael continues to be active in many community and industry-related projects and events.  He lives in Mystic, where he and his wife raised their three daughters.
